Applied Kinesiology borrows from many different disciplines, using muscle testing as a guide for diagnosis and patient care. AK practitioners believe in the triad of health - Structure/Chemical/Emotional.
AK practitioners believe in the Triad of Health
Besides the structural part, which all chiropractors believe in, there are chemical and emotional factors that can affect health as well. This opens up a whole new way of evaluation for structural problems that may not have a structural cause. How often do we hear in our office that a patients low back is hurting but they didn’t have any trauma? The imbalance in the low back may be related to allergens, the new medication that they just started or the fact that their mother is in the hospital.
AK doctors use muscles as indicators of body language. Once a muscle weakness is found, a number of possibilities for that weakness need to be evaluated. With muscle testing, the structural, chemical and emotional blocks can be identified and removed.
Modern medicine focuses on the disease but a holistic chiropractor’s focus is on Dis-ease. Dis-ease is the lack of balance in the body that is keeping it from working optimally.
Thomas Edison is quoted as follows:
“The doctor of the future will give not medicine but will instruct the patients in the case of the human frame, in diet and the cause and prevention of Dis-ease."
